Suunto Clipper Micro Compass

Hailing from Suunto’s Micro series, the Clipper micro compass attaches conveniently to a watch band or hand strap, making it an invaluable navigational tool for on-the-go users. More importantly, the Clipper’s liquid-filled capsule, jewel bearing, and rotating dial are accurate and precise whether you’re navigating on city streets or country roads. Plus, the compass–which measures a mere 1.2 by 0.94 inches (W x L)–takes up virtually no space in your pocket. So go small without sacrificing accuracy with the Clipper.

4 Stars Best inexpensive compass available.
This compass works great for the price. A small compass for general orienteering is a great item to have on hand. If you have ever purchased a mini compass before then I’m sure you have been let down, the Suunto is what you wish you had bought a long time ago.

The Suunto micro compass can’t be beat for what it’s designed for, a tiny compass that lets you know where north is. This may sound like the bare minimum to expect from a compass but it’s actually a tall order in the mini compass department. All previous mini compasses I’ve owned have pointed north in every direction I turned.

The clip on compass is designed to fit a thin nylon strap found on a backpack and is too thin to fit a typical watch without leaving it bent and precarious, but it will hang on if you are the kind of person who doesn’t mind forcing things (I’m not). Lastly this little compass reacts slowly and likes to be level, this is due its small size and must be an accepted trade off for its small size.

Buy with confidence, I would gladly pay $20.

5 Stars It works well but…
I bought it to add it to my watch band but it doesn’t fit. My watch band is titanium and is somewhat thick. So I can’t blame Suunto.

Amazon didn’t take it back. On the other hand, it will be a great present since (a) it works very well, (b) it also has its own band (a velcro thingie), and (c) it’s well made and looks very nice.

NOTE. This is the first time ever that Amazon didn’t allow returning an item. Their excuse was hilarious: it contains a flammable liquid.

Owned or used virtually all of these type compasses and this is the only one that really holds up true - Yes I know it won’t click onto a really thick watch band or a metal one - But in the long run that’s not that important - It is ACCURATE - Yes this compass really does point north - Even after chasing ferrral hogs under high tension power lines - I even used it on an orienteering event as my sole compass after I lent out my regular Siva and dam sure I came out right on point - Don’t get fooled by the other compass clip on’s - After a few months or working around electrical fields they won’t even point north anymore - These Suunto’s really hold up - I have had a few over 8 or 9 months of field use and never had a chance to wear one out before I lost my watch - That’s because I am way to tough on my equipment - That’s why I don’t take anything out in the field I can’t afford to loose or destroy - This little compass has a very strong magnet that is well dampened to allow use during movement - The increments are marked off in just small enough increments to allow fair use with good judgment - I wear mine 24/7 no matter what I am doing - I am sure if they made this compass any better it would cost three times as much… Get one… Go Outside… Have Fun…

5 Stars Super item !
Used it for bike riding … small, very effective, and good priced. Highly recommended!

5 Stars Awesome little compass.
Some responses:

I see some people complaining about the fit on a watchband - the opening is 22mm x 4mm, and it WILL NOT FIT if your watch falls outside these bounds. So no more complaining!

What do you mean “only works if you hold it flat” - IT’S A COMPASS, SILLY! THEY ALL WORK THAT WAY!

Works fine for me mountain biking, running, hiking, and traveling.

My only complaint is that there’s no convenient way to attach to a keychain.

Kelty Soft Top Table

Kelty Soft Top Table

Kelty’s easy-folding Soft-Top table has beverage holders and side mesh pockets for drying clean dishes or storing playing cards. This serving table can be cleared after dinner and used for a game of chess or checkers on its printed board-game top.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars kind of cool
It folds up tiny as heck, took a little while to figure out (my own stupidity the picture here shows clearly how to do it). the top isn’t perfectly taut, but will hold most items you need next to your cot. The beverage holders work great for glasses and flashlights.

All in all I’d buy another one.

5 Stars Great camping table — but not for games
I had an earlier version of this that was borrowed and lost. I was thrilled to find it available again, and with some improvements. The pockets are a nice addition. The ‘game board’ printed on the top is useless unless you want to glue velcro it it and to the bottom of the game pieces. But that wasn’t what I bought it for. As a table for dining, snacking, or having a safe place to set beverages, it is great.

Kelty Redtail 1800 Backpack

Kelty Redtail 1800 Backpack

A veratile daypack for any activity

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Great Day Pack
Great bag! Bought this bag when I moved to Germany to have with me on day trips and outings. Also use it daily as a gym bag and hiking bag.

PROS:

1) Well thought out compartments–it’s got a main pocket with a built in flap and opening for a hydration system, a middle pouch with conveniently sized and placed pockets, a zip/mesh enclosure and a key keeper tab. Outer pocket has a vertical zip on the left side that allows access to the pouch without removing the pack from your back. Includes two mesh side pockets for bottles or loose, frequently used items.

2) Other features–Padded ergonomic shoulder pads are adjustable at bottom and top to accommodate larger, bulkier loads and comfortable placement on your back. Main pocket has a stiff wire frame to keep the bag rigid enough for storage of documents, books or a laptop with undue stress to object. Sturdy, heave duty grab strap on top makes maneuvering the bag in and out of a passenger seat in a car easy. Webbing on the outside of the outer pocket is awesome for tying down large or bulky items (I have a cheap aluminum karabiner that I connect my running shoes to the bag via the webbing). Includes a web lacing gromets (?) for attaching a rolled sleeping bag or pad on the bottom of the bag and an “ice axe” loop.

CONS:

1) Waist strap cannot be stowed or removed for daily light use which, to me, is very slightly annoying.

2) The extra strap material is very long and hard to stow. Would have liked to have Velcro stowage loops on the straps.

Overall this bag is well worth the money. I’d recommend it for anyone who needs a good, solid bag for light to medium duty. Great for day hikes, day trips to anywhere, and will make a great overnight camping bag for anyone into over night hiking/camping trips.

5 Stars Everything I hoped for
You never know when you buy something on-line if it is really what you want. This backpack met or exceeded my every expectation. The ease of ordering and the very fast delivery were added pluses.

1 Star Not what I ordered
I ordered the curry/charcoal for my son’s birthday. When it came it was black! We contacted customer service and they were supposed to send a new one. They emailed a return receipt, but never sent the new one. We called AGAIN and this time we were AGAIN sent a black backpack! I don’t think I will order anything but books from amazon again!!!

4 Stars Great small pack for day hikes.
So long as you bear in mind that this is just a daypack, it’s great. It’s about the size of the average backpack you see around town. The back is vented making it more comfortable on hot days and it has a place to put a bladder from your Camelback. It seems pretty well made, as I’ve experienced with other Kelty products. (I have an extra large duffel and a 3 man, 3 season tent of theirs.)

I’ve only worn it on one hiking trip so far, up to Chasm Lake on Long’s Peak in Colorado. I carried food and emergency gear for three along with a water purifier and found it comfortable.

I found it on sale for less than forty dollars, which probably helps greatly in my appreciation of it. At seventy, I think any daypack would be way over priced.

Kelty K I D S Messenger Diaper Bag

Sling the Kelty Messenger Diaper Bag over your shoulder, carry it like a backpack, or clip it to your strollerthe Messenger Diaper Bag is super versatile. This handy bag has plenty of pockets to organize and separate your baby’s supplies.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Diaper Bag
This bag has served my wife the longest of all her diaper bags. She finds this to be the most useful of all the bags she has used. The design is simple, light, and does not have wasteful functions.

4 Stars Excellent (as in, close to perfect but not quite) Diaper Bag
This bag is an excellent middle-sized diaper bag.

The size (not mentioned above) is roughly 13″ tall by 13″ wide by about 5″ deep. It’s about twice as large as a smaller sized purse, about 2/3 the size of a laptop sized tote.

Pros:

- medium size works well for everyday use.

- front compartment is great for purse-type items while main compartment great for baby gear, thus getting rid of the need to carry two bags.

- many pockets of varying sizes makes it easy to organize things.

- flap top opening makes it easy to get into things one-handed

- well made with solid zippers, good cloth, sturdy seams, etc.

- one pocket in the main compartment is right up near the top and light-colored inside - perfect for items you often need right away and don’t want to dig for.

- messenger strap/backpack straps both comfy - the versatility is very helpful, especially if parents prefer different styles of carrying the bag.

- plain black and gray color is good for those who don’t like froufy and/or babyish diaper bags

- decent price for a good product.

Cons:

- plain black and gray is well…plain. kind of a boring-looking bag, truthfully.

- changing pad is not that great. does not fold flat once you put anything in the attached pouch. it takes up room in main compartment - i packed it into the backpack strap pouch on the back. it has no velcro on it and just sort of flops open. also, it’s not very big. oh well, i didn’t buy the bag for the changing pad.

- front flap is one giant pocket, but the opening to that pocket is a 4″ size zip pocket on the left side. this means either you stuff something big into that pocket through a small opening (like a blanket) OR you put small things into the giant pocket and they rattle around (like my keys). it would have made more sense for the whole pocket to zip open at the top OR to have divided up that space into multiple small pockets.

-while parts of the interior are light colored, most of the interior is black, which makes it harder to see things.

Overall, good product, far better than most diaper bags I’ve seen (and I’ve looked around a lot). Just a few tweaks would have made it pitch perfect for me.
