3 Stars Just ok
I bought my suunto in March 2009 at a greater than 50% discount due to a connection I have. It’s a great looking watch with lots of useful functions. However I think the listed price on Amazon is a little too much. Although I paid much less, I still feel like I over paid.

The battery life is terrible. If you plan to do serious trekking with the suunto core, I would advise you to take spare batteries along. There is a low battery indicator but it gives less than 24hr warning before dying completely. At that point, all reference values and setting will be lost.

The alt and baro is accurate. I work near SFO so I’m able to check my watch baro reading against weather observations (METAR) broadcast for that location. The alt is usually equivalent to the reading I get from my flight instrument when flying.

It’s a great looking watch but if you need a serious adventure watch, keep looking.

1 Star Good For about a Year … Then hassle to have it fixed even if you have warranty
Got my Core to use mostly for hiking, sailing and daily use. Looks good (although had few friends make comment that now when I am wearing that watch they can see me 3 miles down the road - making fun of the size) The watch is surprisingly light and good looking. After that its not so hot. My watch lasted for about 7 months when my lower right button became stacked and pushed in. Watch became unusable and even thought in warranty I had to pay $50 dollars to have it replaced. (warranty fee - what???)

I am very disappointed with the quality of the watch. The functions are not as precise as I expected (altimeter, compass are really good only as a rough estimate). Hope you have a better luck. I am selling my new unit ASAP and looking at different makers.

5 Stars Best Suunto for outdoor activities ever made
This watch is really amazing, despite it has few additional functions compared to previous version (Vector), this watch is very helpful for those enthusiast that really likes outdoor activities. In overall this watch is amazing but at the same time it has some negatives such as: i) the storm alarm it is complicated to get used to ii) the owner’s manual in some sections lack of detailed information to complete the right setup for some functions iii) the price is little expensive even though the materials used for this model has been improved significantly compared to Vector series.

4 Stars good watch
Good watch but its not water proof. If you stay in the water for a long time, water will seep throiugh. Also you get a lot of condensation which makes it difficult to read the time. One thing I notice is that this watch does not have a rubber o-ring inside inside the battery compartment which prevent water to seep through. I had to take the battery and the circuitry dry off twice which annoying.

5 Stars Mil Core
The watch was delivered in a very timely manner in great condition. I had no problems with my watch since i have received it and went diving with it the day after i got it. Great watch for any that really on the gear for there outdoor actives.

5 Stars Excellent Watch, EASY INTERFACE. AWESOME…
I love this thing. It would be hard to live without. All the features work exactly as described. Instructions are simple and clear. Great product.

2 Stars If you think it’s a tough watch, think again
I wear my X6HR in a regular environment (office, home), nothing near extreme condition. However, in less than a year, I foung the rubber band of the heart monitor is broken in many placed and the rubber became brittle with many hairline cracks. This is clearly a quality issue with the material used for the watch. In a trip to the Keys, FL, I found that the little rubber ring that holds the band of the watch in place broke in two piece much like what happed to the heart rate monitor band. The band itself also has many small cracks. I am sure the band will break in half sooner or later. The LCD on the watch also became fuzzy when I wear it around beaches. This is supposed to be a watch that you can bring to an expedition, yet it failed miserably in a everyday environment. If you are looking for a tough watch, look elsewhere. My Casio G-shock never gives me any headache that this watch gives.

5 Stars Everything I wanted and a lot more
The watch delivers everything you want from a HR monitor + outdoor adventures and is very simple to operate.

3 Stars Great features, but needs serious polish.
The X6HR has a great range of functions. However, the user interface and reliability of the product need serious work before its steep pricetag can be justified.

- Bezel buttons give no positive feedback, so you need to look closely at the screen to confirm button presses.

- The HRM function seems both unreliable. Heart rate occasionally drops out or spikes to double for no reason. I’ve parallel tested with a $30 HRM, which seems more reliable.

- The compass function is unbelievably poorly designed. Instead of drawing a compass on the face, or indicating N/S/E/W points around the bezel, the watch tells you the number of degrees you are facing, or prints N, NW, W, SE, etc on the screen. This is a completely counterintuitive way of displaying the information.

- The PC connection software looks like it was written in the 1990s- provides little functionality and poor usability.

This watch had great promise… but it has proven very disappointing in design.

3 Stars nice hiking companion
This is a nice hiking companion but it is not a training tool. You do not have any information regarding calorie or TE after the exercise. For training go to T6, T4 or T3. For hiking with PC cabality this is a good option. The Polar S625 can do a better work for hiking with additional trainign capabilities.

Suunto Universal Bike Pod Wireless Transmitter

Engineered by Mavic, the Suunto Bike POD turns your Suunto t3, Suunto t4 or Suunto t6 into a wireless bike computer with current and average speeds, distance and interval alarms.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Suunto Universal Bike Pod wireless Transmitter
The Suunto bike pod is easy to install in a few minutes, and worked, as advertised, paired with the Suunto T3, Training Effects/Heart Rate monitor. Unlike other wireless cycling computers used in the past, the Suunto bike pod does not require micro positioning on the bike and continues to send reliable signals to the Suunto T3, even in bad weather and over rough terrain. Although bike pod includes provisions for mounting the Suunto T3 on the handle bars, this configuration is not required for use. The Suunto T3 is a wrist-worn training effects and heart rate monitor, and works fine when worn on either the left or right wrist, receiving wireless signals from the bike pod as well as the Suunto heart rate transmitter worn around the chest.

1 Star 3 months and still not working
I bought this product in January but did not try to use it right away. I waited until I bought a new bike then began my unsuccessful attempts to use this product. If you buy this product, be aware it is tricky to pair. I followed the instructions, but never saw the “paired” message that indicated it was successful. After several attempts to contact their “24hr” service phone (which is NOT open after 5pm EST Friday until Monday), I talked to someone there who told me it was seemingly paired because I was able to get the Speed/Distance mode on my T3 to display. I thought Great! but when I went to try to test it out, it does not actually read any speed/distance data. So it was back to the phones (after waiting *another* weekend). This time it there were no answers and I was told I had to go online and create a service request (and register the product for warranty). So I am attempting to do so, but the product warranty registration requires a serial number which is not labeled on the product (though I have tried some 20 odd combinations of the numbers/letters that are printed on the POD, all unsuccessfully). So I am going to have to try to call again. I won’t even mention the “ask a question” I filled out some 3 weeks ago on their website which has not been responded to. I’ll update this review if I *ever* get a working product.

4 Stars it works and is flexible for various bikes
The main advantage of this over other units that work with Suunto is that this is the only one that will actually work with all bicycles because it simply zip ties to the front fork. The other two units that work with Suunto are more elegant but do not work with all bike set ups.

The only concern is that the plastic looks brittle, but I have it on a mountain bike and have not had a problem with durability yet.
